Paper Trails is a two-minute short film about a tiny origami dragon exploring a bedroom. The scenes were modeled, animated, and rendered in Autodesk’s 3DS Max, and the final assembly along with sound design was done in adobe’s premiere pro. The character was animated using the CAT system in 3DS Max, and while it wasn’t without its issues, it streamlined the process. I am excited to pursue more animation in the future using different systems and programs. I plan on recreating my dragon character with slightly different modeling techniques to allow for more expressive movement and use him as my test model when working on other projects. I’d love to develop more stories centered around him. The project introduced me to a new realm of possibilities for independent artists and storytellers and I look forward to seeing what other capabilities are in store for us.
