Nayan Velaskar is a virtual reality artist. His artistic practice revolves around the various ways through which the queer can be manifested in the virtual. He works with various queering materials such as fabrics, paper, and beads to gauge their potency as queering texture, which is achieved through 3D visualization devices and related game engine software.
Velaskar’s focus of interest lies in the subversion of the heteronormative strata of video games. His research relies on the analysis of preexisting game development practices, identifying tropes of homogenesis within them, and finding ways by which they can be restructured.
