Speaker Series: Mid Century Design & The Modern Age

For Assignment 1 in our Typography 3850 class, we were tasked to create a fictional lecture series that not only informs but captivates through dynamic typography and compelling visuals. My concept, Mid-Century Design and the Modern Age, brings together four trailblazers — Ray Eames, Jacqueline Casey, Dieter Rams, and Jonathan Adler — each offering a unique perspective on how mid-century aesthetics continue to inspire today’s design landscape. The poster design is a vibrant homage to the era, featuring bold, geometric forms and a nostalgic yet modern color palette. The typefaces evoke the playful, structured spirit of mid-century modernism, striking a balance between expressive flair and legibility. This project was an exercise in visual storytelling, using typography and layout to communicate both information and atmosphere.
