In the New Media (Cinema 4420) Screenwriting class, students were to write the first ten pages of a feature length film script.
An exploration in horror and comedy, “Carnal” takes place after a series of students go missing within the grounds of Cedar Point University. Beck Estrada finds herself in an unstable state of mind, tangled in grief and anger after her best friend makes the headlines as the latest missing, person, or rather at this point, missing body. Grief can manifest as many symptoms, thats what they tell her, as echos of paranoia start reverberate in her mind. Following her tie to the case, Val, an optimistic journalist major, seeks out his first big break, and for Beck, a chance to lay her friend to rest. Together the unlikely duo take a crack at discovering what really lurks in the dark between the trees.
