A green screen with a white inscription reading "Video Game History."

Video Game History (v0.0.1) is a website project intended to depict numerous decades using the most prominent video game at the time. The layout, images, colors, and fonts from each decade are supposed to evoke “nostalgia” in conjunction with the music. As a result, I can add a number of animations & user interactions to this composition, enriching the user experience by beginning with the terminal console and concluding in the current year (as of 2020). The main content are the highlights of each year from 1970s to the current year (as of 2020) by using a selected video game to represent the decade. Although certain games that I chose may be debatable, I made my choices according to how popular they were at the time and how they affected the gaming market & industry as a whole.

The project is built with JavaScript and third-party NPM packages to develop 2D SVG animations & webpages, along with the CSS preprocessor language SASS for enhancing interactivity through making the colors and fonts reactive. The sources of all the assets and third-party libraries used in the project are listed in the website’s credit page.
