“The First Olympic Run” is a three-minute motion capture animation inspired by the finale of Rossini’s William Tell Overture. This is an artistic interpretation of the very first stadion race, though the historical accuracy may be up to debate. Utilizing the motion capture studio at the university and applications Vicon Blade and 3DS Max, I was able to create original motion capture data and apply it to my own 3D models.
I’ve never made a motion capture animation of this length before, so it was quite an enthralling challenge to produce. My first time ever 3D modelling and animating was in fall of 2022. I had taken up the interest in 3D animation as a result and I am so glad I was able to make something of (laughably) glorious quality.
