The purpose of this Processing project was to explore the modern idea of beauty through a surreal animation. With the way media portrays attractiveness and how mainstream media builds up the importance of beauty, it creates in people an anxiety and self-awareness of “how beautiful” they are in the eyes of both media and the people around them. This generates a desire for attention within many people who want to be seen as attractive, but at the same time, this also causes them to constantly second guess if the eyes who are watching them are seeing them as “beautiful” or otherwise not. All eyes are on you. Do you meet the beauty standards of mainstream media?
