The parameters set out for the final assignment in CINE 3010, was to find your own style or “break the rules” through film. Cinematography is my main focus in the New Media department, where I have discovered my own style. In most cases, how I approach film is through a high exposure, video blog-like/montage style. In our last assignment I wanted to try something completely different and obscure. I approached this final project through a “home video” or VHS technique, which is something I’ve never done before. I wanted to share the memories and experiences I had on a trip to Seattle, Washington with my friends. I cherish the friendships I’ve made over this trip and wanted to bring back the sense of family that comes with friendship. What I value the most in the films I create, is the sense of memories being told without dialogue or text, strictly through the visuals of the shots. I want the film itself, with the use of the music to be able to tell a story. The importance of films without dialogue and text is being able to narrate a story through visuals created.
